Drink Calculator

Here’s how I determine how much alcohol needs to be purchased for each event.

Typically guests will consume 1 drink per hour. Lets just say you have 250 guest for a 4-hour event. (Adjust per your estimated guest count and hours)

# of guests x hours of party time

(250 guest x 4 hours = 1000 drinks)

Adjust Percentage by how you much of each category your guest may drink. Make sure your total percentage equals 100% among all categories. For this example we will assume only beer and wine.

Beer 40% of guest

Wine 60% of guest

Beer

Beer 40%

Total # of drinks x 40%

1000 x 40% = 400 beers

We recommend can beer (24 case)

Kegs contain 15.5 gallons or 165 12 oz servings

Wine

Wine 60%

(Total # of Drinks - Beers) x 60%

(1000-400) x 60% = 360 glasses of wine

750 ml bottle of wine serves 5 glasses

360 glasses of wine / 5 glasses = 72 bottles of wine

Champagne Toast

1 bottle for every 8 guests enough for 1/2 glass for each guest

250 guests / 8 = 31.25

about 32 bottles

Mixed Drinks

Here’s where is gets tricky, any drinks not considered beer or wine will fall into this category. Calculating what you need will be determined by the amount of cocktails and their ingredient. Limit is 2 custom cocktails unless it is an open bar.

Total # of Drinks - Beer - Wine = # of Mixed Drinks

The average cocktail consist of:

1.5 oz liquor

1/4 - 1/2 oz Lemon/Lime Juice

4-6 oz

Water

You can't forget to hydrate! You can estimate guests will drink 12 oz every 1/2 hour - hour during your event. For beverage dispensers account for 4 12 oz glass per person or 1000 glasses of water.
